about god

Man or woman cannot be everywhere at all places in the universe. But God is everywhere and at all places in the universe. He dwells in all the living beings, air, water, fire, vacuum, earth etc., All living beings whether humans, animals, birds or trees have got date of birth and date of death. But God has neither birth nor death. Some people call God as nature, some call Him as supreme power beyond the composition of man’s intellectual capabilities. Anybody can see Him even though He is everywhere. Only He is permanent. All others come and go. Human beings as individuals can see only one place with their eyes. But they do not have the power to see all the places at the same time. God has the power to see all things, all places created by Him, throughout the universe, at the same time.

God has enormous powers. But he does not use his powers. Human beings, animals, creatures, trees etc., born, die and reborn and re die. But God has no birth or death. He is permanent. He is formless, but he can take any form at any time. He gives life to all of us, takes life from all of us. All our lives are prewritten, predetermined by God. God created creating and will create millions and millions of human beings so differently so distinctively without any resemblance of one another.

We are born; we live and die in this world. Nothing is perennial except God in the world. Tirumoolar has declared in Tamil that

“Onre kulam oruvane devan”

This means there is only one community (humans) and only one god.

In whichever form you worship God, God will appear in that form. All that is needed is faith alone. Swami Vivekananda’s uttering also suit for realizing God.

“Arise, awake and stop not till the goal is reached.”

Swami being a disciple of Sri Ramakrishna ventured down south to Kanyakumari where Devi herself did penance in the form of a Kanya. The southernmost tip of India is Kanyakumari. We can see the traces of Goddess feet in Vivekananda Memorial Rock in Kanyakumari. Vivekananda did meditation before the holy padham (feet) and got enlightenment.
