FeedDemon - free desktop RSS Reader
Probably some time back there was less number of good desktop readers. Either they were not so easy for the end user or required dot net runtime library (which required additional download). Other Free RSS readers were just stripped down versions of paid products. All these products made desktop RSS reading a trouble. Google introduced its reader which was easy to use, single Google login; the interface was real simple even for a newbie. The only downside is that you have to open a browser to read the feeds.
