Illusions of life

The bees want to drink the honey. Hoping to consume as much as possible the bees go near the honey. But after tasting nectar, the bee slowly falls into the honey loosing its life. Unable to get out, the bee dies. If someone cautions the bee not to venture for honey, will it take the words? No, it won’t. It learns by its own experience at the cost of its own life.

The same thing holds good for human beings too. We are bound by our own desires, goals and thoughts. Ask people of different ages what their wish is

A 10 year old kid wants to be a cricketer, movie star, SWE etc.

A 20 year old youngster wants to earn and settle well in life.

A 30 year middle-aged person spends money to bring happiness in the family.

At 40 years the person is keen in making the offspring ready to take challenges of the society.

At the age of 50 life’s fantasies wither off slowly and reality grips the otherwise happy man. The urge to pleasures gradually reduces. The person speaks as though he lives life just for the sake and gets nothing out of it.

60+ years’ old - The people of this age start seeing a void in life. Some even start doing great things at this age.

So what’s all this? Am I telling that there is no use in living life? No, it’s not like that. What I am saying is everything happens naturally.

The aging process of human beings takes place even if you don’t want it. Even if you don’t eat, drink, sleep you’ll get aged. There is no way to escape.

The earth is filled with Maya (illusion). If you think you can succeed in your attempts to escape from the traps of Maya, then you need to think again. Nobody has ever escaped from Maya. Without Maya there is no beauty in the earth. All the natural beauties viz., sky, ocean, trees, mountains, rivers, animals, you and me all come under the rule of Maya.

Man falls a pray to Maya so easily than even animals and trees. He eats, drinks, enjoys things in life and finally he also wants a place reserved in heaven.

Man does the most inhuman acts in his life. He cuts the trees which give him fruits, vegetables and even a place for shelter during summer and rain. A lion or tiger will kill a man only if it is hungry. A snake will bite a man only if he did any harm to it. But man does everything evil to everyone around him. He never realizes the mistakes he is doing. He thinks that the world is created for him and only himself. He thinks he has rights to kill and eat whatever he wants. It would not be a surprise when we hear sometimes that man starts eating human flesh.

Man takes Maya in two ways.

1. He thinks everything in this world is made just for him to enjoy. He wants to relish and enjoy the maximum out of Maya.

2. He thinks he has identified Maya. He has firm belief that he can get rid of Maya and live life very pure.

Both the above two conclusions are wrong and will surely mislead him. Let us see the first mindset.

In his endeavor to enjoy the pleasures and as he starts relishing his desires he wants more, more and even more. He looses contempt and becomes greedy. How much ever he enjoyed he wants more. And to fulfill his selfish needs he will start indulging in wrong means. That itself will mark the end of his life.

The second mindset is somewhat better than the first. This is because he wants to get rid of the dark side. But if he thinks he had conquered Maya then he is wrong. His duty is to strive towards a pure life at the same time he should see to it that he does not fall a pray to the presentation of Maya before him.

This is where God comes in. If you think there is someone more powerful than yourself and he is capable of giving punishment to you, then will you do a sin to another person? No, you won’t. So we should all believe there is something illimitable either it may be Allah, Jesus or Krishna. But the presence of the supernatural is beyond any doubt.

If you seek the help of that super natural power only then you can get out from the clutches of Maya. This is not a start here go and end there process. You may face innumerable number of blockades and failures. But every time you fail don’t fail to attempt again. And in the process be truthful to yourself. Never forget God. You are bound to capture all illusions away from you. Good luck!
