Save youtube videos
Of recent times, YouTube seems to be favorite spot for many. YouTube is a site where you can upload videos so that anyone can view them online. The videos are tagged and searchable. The problem is that if you have a slow internet connection or a slow PC then the videos can’t be viewed continuously. It would be nice to save these videos for offline viewing.
To save YouTube videos to your computer follow any one or more of the following methods:
1. Video Downloader
Video Downloader is a firefox extension that will allow you to save all the YouTube Videos and Google Videos for offline viewing. After you install this extension, a small icon will sit in your Status Bar. Click on the icon while you are in the video page and it will show you the link to download the video. Right click and select “Save link as”. Save the file with an extension .flv (for example myvideo.flv). Play the video using FLV player / VLC Media Player. This is the simplest method to download YouTube and Google Videos.

2. KeepVid
Visit KeepVid and copy paste the video page link where you are watching the video. Select YouTube or Google Video and click the download button to save the video with an .flv extension (say myvideo.flv). Use FLV player / VLC Media Player to view the downloaded video. Also there is a bookmarklet which you can drag and drop to your bookmarks toolbar. Clicking on the bookmark while you are in the video page will save the video to your computer.
3. Using Greasemonkey Userscript
Download Greasemonkey extension for Firefox. After doing so you will see the smiling monkey face in the firefox status bar (restart firefox to see the monkey face). Now right click on this js file and select “Install User Script”. You will see an alert that the script was installed successfully.
Now when you visit the YouTube page, on the top you will see a download link. Just right click on the link and select “save link as”. Give a name for the file as you wish with an extension “.flv”. Under “Save as type” you will see “PHP Script”. Change it to “All files”. You will be able to download the video in flv format.
To view flv files you need to download the FLV player / VLC Media Player. Just drag the flv files to the player to start viewing the videos.
4. zfreez.com (Download YouTube Videos)
Visit zfreez.com. Paste the video page URL and click the button to save the video to your computer. View the video offline using FLV player / VLC Media Player.
