Chennai Rain

There is a sudden outpour of heavy rain today in Chennai. I love the rains. I hope everybody likes rain provided there should be no harm for people due to floods etc. Whenever it rains I feel as though God is saying to the world that “hi people, I am here. Believe in me and I will help you”. Yes, it is true indeed rain brings a lot of belief on the existence of the supreme power.

Man can never achieve supremacy over nature. The beauty of nature is God’s gift to humanity. Places like New Orleans and Mumbai were heavily affected by the devastating floods. This is a disaster that excessive rains had caused. But take the example of Chennai. How many times we see people praising Bangalore, kolkata, Chandigarh and even Hyderabad for getting good rainfall and having a pleasant weather at least 3 months a year. But Chennai is known for its climate popularly as “hot hotter hottest”.

I don’t know why Chennai does not get its share of rainfall when compared to other cities in India. As Chennai is always hot throughout the year, it brings a great joy to see rain. The scarcity of drinking water prevailing in Chennai may be reduced to a certain extent if it rains properly.

There is a Tamil saying, “Maadham mummari pozithal” which means that rain should occur three times a month. This will make a good harvest to the farmers and the place will be with good wealth.

But this is not happening in Chennai. Chennai always faces drinking water shortage. People fight among themselves when the water lorry arrives. Even the quality of drinking water is very bad.

I hope one day the northern part of India (the climate) comes to south and the vice versa. Then it will be like this. Chennai and other southern states will be having colder winters, good rainfall and a good (but short) summer. The north Indian climate becomes hot throughout the year.

I know this will never happen. It is just an imagination. It seems that blogs are now read even by aliens. I hope one day God will read this blog so that he will give at least a little more rainfall to the people of Chennai.

The greatest beauty of nature is seen immediately after a rainy evening. I am writing this post after a rainy evening only. Let it rain and bring prosperity to Chennai and its people.
