10 easy steps to good health

1. Eating habits: - “Eat less and live long”. This simple proverb is truly meaningful. A human being requires 4 meals a day. This can further be divided in to 2 solid intakes and 2 times in the form of liquid. The liquid diet may consists of any one of the following at a time i.e. buttermilk, cows milk, fruit juice (without sugar) or raw fruits. Solid food may be anything depending upon the local climatic conditions. But a vegetarian food will always be preferable for health conscious people. A typical vegetarian meal may consists any of the following., rice, wheat, dhal, vegetables, fruits, sprouts, ragi, greens, corn flakes, etc,. This verse from the Tamil poet Thiruvalluvar’s Thirukkural is worth noting.

“Who slays nought,- flesh rejects- his feet before
All living things with clasped hands adore”
All creatures will join their hands together, and worship him who has never taken away life, nor eaten flesh.

Also the food which goes inside our mouth forms the body. If you eat chicken, you’ll not only eat that, but also the innumerable worms which the hen had already eaten. Hence non-vegetarian food is better not to be taken.

2. Walking: - Walking helps in increasing blood circulation. It is also helpful in speeding up the digestion process. Also the unwanted substances come out. The main advantage of walking is that it doesn’t have any side effects. It is the best exercise that anyone can do.

3. Avoid lifts: - How many times we use lifts? If we instead take the steps to go up and down, then that would be an excellent form of exercise daily.

4. Parking the vehicle at a distance: - It is a nice idea to park our cars or two-wheelers a little distance from the office/shopping complex and then take a walk. This idea may sound silly but it really helps.

5. Drinking water: - Like walking, drinking water is the safest way to reduce weight.

6. Sunlight: - Our body skin must be exposed daily to sun at least half an hour. Sunlight has natural vitamin E substances which is good for our health.

7. Sleep well: - If you do not get proper sleep, then there are chances that you get a number of diseases. A simple way to overcome Insomnia (sleeplessness) is to go for long walks or to have a diet rich in iron and minerals. Dates and pomegranate are best sources for hemoglobin among fruits.

8. Fruits: - It’s the nature’s gift to mankind. Apples, dates, pomegranates, Sapodilla, sweet lime, grapes, etc., are best suited for people of all ages.

9. Avoid smoking: - Smoking causes cancer. There is no doubt about that. It is high time we stop copying the screen idols who smoke cigarettes.

10. Avoid Drinking: - Drinking liquor is also very much injurious to health. It may be permitted for those who live in colder countries but not in a country like India where the climate is hot throughout. Drinking and Driving may lead you to hell for sure.
