Microsoft Windows Vista

Windows VistaThe software giant Microsoft announced that the next version of its client operating system will be called as “Windows Vista”.

The software, so far called by its code name Longhorn, will be released at the end of 2006, five years after the launch of Windows XP.

Microsoft has assured that Vista will have security as an integral part of the operating system and not as an add-on.

The seamless integration with other computing devices from media centers to wireless music players will be its key feature.

Microsoft Executives have declared Vista, which is expected to run on high-specification computers only, has been designed with security as “part of the design, not a bolt-on”.

A video of the launch depicted the Vista brand name beside the slogan “Clear, Confident, Connected; Bringing clarity to your world”.

A beta version is planned for release on August 3, 2005 for developers and IT professionals.

Microsoft Corporation has also registered the US domain name windowsvista.us.
