100Mbps High Speed Broadband To Hit U.S. In 2006
According to a Finnish firm 100Mbps cable internet will be possible by next year. It will be 50 times faster than the average broadband speeds now offered to cable TV homes in US which can be made possible due to their Ethernet-to-the-home technology. This new ultra-fast connection is expected to be relatively cheap and customers need not worry about the rising broadband cost for more speed.
Teleste, the company which produces broadband equipment says 30 Megabits per second would be the absolute minimum in future homes. Teleste would be competing with much larger firms like Scientific Atlanta and Cisco. This policy will be launched in US next year but may take a long long time to materialize in India.
In India Broadband is still a distant dream for many dialup users. The broadband firms offer confusing fee structure and the cost is exorbitant and DM says that he will connect villages with high speed internet connections. If the cost is going to remain the same, then how will the villagers use the internet and develop?
Most of the Indians are not satisfied with the current internet schemes provided by various companies like BSNL, Tata Indicom, Sify, Airtel etc. There is no difference between the private companies and the ones owned by government in terms of cost.
