STP or System Tray Player is the best freeware mp3 player according to me. It is also one of the world’s smallest mp3 players. It sits in the system try and plays all the songs continuously. There is no need to click again and again. Just open STP and enjoy listening to good music. If you want to skip a particular song then you can do it by just clicking the next or previous button. STP also has its own volume controller. Keyboard shortcuts can be configured according to your own choice. Even skins are available. STP consumes very low memory. Hence it is suitable even for Pentium 2 machines. Just if you get used to it for 2 or 3 days you will never try any other mp3 player.
Download STP and unzip the files. Then copy and paste the whole directory to
c:\windows
Where C refers to your root directory. After doing so open it, you will find a couple of files. Now right click the file STP.exe and select “Send To” >> “Desktop (create shortcut)”. Now close all the windows. Double click STP icon in the desktop. It will settle in the task bar. Right click the icon; go to play and select scan drive. Now select the drive where you have all you your mp3 files. It will take a fraction of a second to crawl. That’s it. STP will start playing all your songs one by one. You select whichever song you want to play by right clicking and going to albums or tracks. If you are using the computer for some other purpose and want to hear your music side by side then STP is just made for you. The advantage of this software is it doesn’t have any updates. Download it once and use it for ever. It is the coolest mp3 player I have ever known.
You have a lot of keyboard shortcuts that you can customize according to your own. For example to configure the shortcut for volume, right click the STP mp3 player (while it is in the system tray) and select “Settings” >> “Advanced” >> “Hotkeys”. There is a “volume-/volume+”. Select “ctrl+shift+down-arrow” and for increasing the volume you may select “ctrl+shift+up-arrow”. Now click save and try reducing or increasing the volume. It will work perfect. You will enjoy using this piece of software.
