Thiruneermalai - Abode of Lord Vishnu

Today is Vaikunda Ekathasi. Me and my friend ss went to thiruneermalai to see the grand “sorga vaasal thirappu” of the perumal sannithi. Thiruneermalai is a hindu temple located near pallavaram in chennai. The main deity is Lord Sri Mahavishnu. There is a mythology that when the sorgavasal is opened, immediately perumal goes to vaikuntam. Whoever sees perumal when the sorgavaasal is opened also goes to vaikuntam. It is in this context that people go to temple and see the sorgavaasal thirappu.

Myself and my friend ss reached thiruneermalai at about 5:00 am. There was a big queue in front of the main “sorga vaasal”. Police were guarding here and there. The temple was full of nice lighting arrangements. The queue moved slowly and entered inside the “sorga vaasal”. We saw Lord Mahavishnu with lakshmi. We prayed to God.

There was prasadham stall inside the temple. Dosa’s, laddus, pulisadhams, muruuku, thattai were sold in the stall. The temple pujaris themselves sold them. We bought dosa. It was nice and tasty. After all it was Lord Srihari’s prasadham, so it ought to be the tastiest.

We returned with the blessings of the Lord.
